Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary’s Second Grade Insect Adventure Program teaches students about the fascinating world of the many insects that call the Sanctuary their home. Experienced educators and 91°µÍø naturalists cover important concepts such as habitat, interdependence, and adaptation as they lead students along a specially constructed trail through a pine upland area, with activity and experiment stations spaced along the way.
Students also travel a portion of the boardwalk, where they apply classroom and activity station knowledge to the larger Corkscrew ecosystem. All activities are linked to the Sunshine State’s second-grade curriculum standards.
Teachers will receive an educator manual containing information to help prepare students for the field trip, including suggested pre- and post-trip classroom activities.
