Volunteer opportunities and other ways to stay engaged with us.

Join the 91°µÍø Team

You can get involved with the Bent of the River 91°µÍø Center in many ways that will satisfy your interests and help serve as an outstanding conservation and education resource for the community. Opportunities are available for high school students (age 14 and older), individuals, and groups.

  • Community Scientists—Take part in seasonal census and research projects throughout the year. Projects can include Climate Watch, Territory Mapping, and Nest Watch. In the fall of 2026, we will be adding Monarch Tagging as well as Herbarium collection and cataloging. Some natural history knowledge is necessary. Adults and high school students.
  • Trail Maintainers—Assist our land manager and caretaker with trail upkeep, invasive plant control, light carpentry, footbridge repair, and litter removal. Weekdays. Adults, high school students, and groups.
  • Gardeners—Help us maintain the special wildlife gardens around the Clark House and the barn. Landscaped areas for butterflies, hummingbirds, songbirds, and other wildlife need weeding and watering. Gardening knowledge is a plus. Weekdays. Adults, high school students, and groups.
  • Administrative Assistants—Help 91°µÍø staff with office functions, including mailings, copying,  computer work, cleaning, bulletin board displays, distribution and restocking of brochures and flyers, as well as special projects. Weekdays.

Teen Volunteer Conservation Corps 


Are you interested in wildlife or conservation? Join our volunteer crew where you will get hands-on experience with conservation work at the Bent of the River and, as a bonus, earn volunteer hours for school. The Bent of the River is a hub of conservation work and a designated Important Bird Area. We have 700 acres of protected land that contains habitats like meadows, shrubland, river, wetlands, and mixed forest. Learn and help with our nest box monitoring, invasive plant management, checking trails, and so much more.
