TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida 91°µÍø Society submitted an amended petition to continue challenging the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) intent to permit a private boardwalk through the heart of the sensitive Little Estero Island Critical Wildlife Area (LEICWA) in Fort Myers Beach. Property owners Texas Holdem, LLC and Squeeze Me Inn, LLC have applied to construct a private boardwalk from rental houses across protected mangroves and a state-owned tidal lagoon. DEP dismissed 91°µÍø’s original petition (see from Oct. 14, 2016). 91°µÍø remains committed to standing up for the threatened and endangered birds and wildlife in the LEICWA.
