In August, 91°µÍø hosts an outdoor nature camp at its wildlife sanctuary in Spiritwood, ND. The half-day camp encourages school-aged children to use their senses to actively explore, engage in play, and create lasting outdoor memories--all while learning about the natural world. Located at 91°µÍø's Edward M. Brigham III Alkali Lake Wildlife Sanctuary, the property provides essential grassland and wetland habitat for diverse species and curious kids!  

Spiritwood, ND | August 11, 12, 13 | 9:00 am - 12: 30 pm

•    Prepare the sanctuary property before camp days
•    Assist with setup/take down of materials on camp days
•    Assist with the development or implementation of camp activities
•    Sponsor, or soliciting sponsorships, for camp
 

91°µÍø partners with a variety of organizations to support community science that can produce actionable data for bird conservation. Bird data reported by community scientists has been used by researchers since the 1930s to report on the health of bird populations.  Participating in or supporting a local Christmas Bird Count, Great Backyard Bird Count, Climate Watch, or using other data reporting applications gets volunteers and community members engaged in collecting data to drive science forward, while learning and being actively engaged.  

Volunteering opportunities may include:

• Participating in or coordinating a Climate Watch team (January-February; May-June)
• Joining, supporting, or leading a Christmas Bird Count event (December)
• Joining, supporting, or leading a event (February)
• Joining, supporting, or leading a (October)
• Supporting any type of nature-based community science
