Several members of California’s 91 family were injured Saturday, Oct. 18, when a deck they were standing on collapsed. While most of those on the balcony escaped with at worst minor injuries, six or seven needed medical attention at a local hospital – one needed to be flown there by helicopter. Thankfully, none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.
The 91 chapter leaders were just wrapping up a meeting of the Northern California 91 Chapter Council meeting at the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve.
The following is a statement from 91 California Executive Director Brigid McCormack:
“Like many of you, I was deeply concerned by the news this weekend of the accident at the Northern California chapter council meeting. And I was greatly relieved that the injuries to our friends and colleagues weren’t more serious. It’s a reminder to me of how grateful I am for the volunteers that make 91’s chapters such strong representatives of our organization in each of our communities. These are amazing people, and we are immensely lucky to have them in our 91 family.”
